Dow discontinued 1292 and FirstPower developed a suitable substitute. It is a lighter weight, thinned down version of DOW 3451 (also available on this web site).
The discontinued Dow Corning 1292 long life bearing grease consisted of a fluorosilicone oil thickened with a high-melting point organic solid. The load-bearing capacity of dow corning 1292 long life bearing grease is comparable with that of the best unfortified petroleum greases.
Discontinued Molykote 1292 was a lubricating grease for metal to metal combinations with medium-fast to slow movements and medium loads over a wide temperature range. This product has a high resistance to water, water washout, mineral oil, fuels and many other chemicals. The material has a service temperature range from – 40 to 200 degrees Celsius. It can also withstand short periods in temperatures up to 230 degrees Celsius. Molykote 1292 is suitable for long-term lubrication because of its low tendency towards oxidation.
